María Angélica Burgos is a well regarding and in-demand Arbitrator in Bogotá, Colombia. She focuses her practice of more than 15 years in international and domestic arbitration and international investment law.

Prior to founding Burgos Dispute Resolution, María Angélica was as a Senior Associate at Baker McKenzie’s Bogotá office, a Partner at Zuleta Abogados Asociados and Senior Associate with Gómez-Pinzón Zuleta Abogados.

Before private practice, she was an advisor to the government of Colombia, and as such, she participated in the negotiation of International Investment Agreements on behalf of Colombia and advised on investment dispute prevention and management. María Angélica was also a University Trainee at the International Court of Justice.

María Angélica has been recognized by Who’ Who Legal as a Future Leader in Arbitration (2019-2024), a Global Elite Thought Leader-Under 45 (2023, 2024) and by Best Lawyers in the field of Arbitration (2020-2023).

  • Represented a Spanish company in an ICC arbitration, seated in Bogota, Colombia, related to the exercise of certain post-closing rights in a joint-venture agreement.
  • Represented a Colombian company in an ICC arbitration, seated in Bogota, Colombia, related to the exercise of rights in a share purchase agreement.
  • Represented a group of companies affiliated to a multinational corporation, in an ICC arbitration, seated in Bogota, arising out of a dispute concerning the termination of a commercial relationship.
